Shibuya Apex Finger Tab Review

If you are an intermediate archer looking for a new finger tab, you might want to consider this hidden gem. I’m pretty sure you want to know why so here is my Shibuya Apex Finger Tab review.

The Shibuya Apex finger tab was designed by gold medalist Kim Chung-Tae and has many features that make it a great option for improving your shooting performance and comfort.

In this review, I will share my personal experience with using this finger tab and evaluate its design, build quality, comfort, and value for money.

Before I forget, I got my Shibuya Apex finger tab from Lancaster Archery. I am not paid to do this so here are my honest thoughts.

Design

The Shibuya Apex Finger Tab has a sleek and ergonomic design that allows for comfortable and consistent hooking.

The finger spacer is slimmer and shorter than most finger tabs, which gives you more control over your fingers and prevents them from slipping.

You can also adjust the finger spacer forward if you prefer a deeper hook.

The finger band is easy to adjust with a spring cord lock and has a high leather piece on the top finger for better finger clearance.

It has an adjustable anchor pad

The Shibuya Apex tab also comes with a slim top edge piece that you can use instead of a ledge if you want to have more contact with the string.

The Shibuya Apex Finger Tab features an internally mounted anchor pad. This pad creates a flat surface for your thumb to rest against without any screws or bolts getting in the way. You may also adjust with higher or lower visible markers in case you need to adjust.

The integrated anchor pad helps you achieve a more stable and consistent anchor point and reduces torque on the string. It is also removable if you prefer to shoot without it.

Tilt-lock finger spacer

The tilt-lock finger spacer is another unique feature of the Shibuya Apex Finger Tab. It has a ledge that prevents it from tilting and ensures that your fingers are aligned with the string. This helps you avoid twisting or bending your fingers and improves your accuracy and consistency.

Build Quality

Shibuya developed the Apex Finger Tab with a base plate made of high-quality aluminum that is durable and lightweight.

The cordovan face is specially made for this product and has a consistent thickness and smoothness that is unparalleled in similar products. It is soft and supple and provides a smooth release without compromising your feel of the string.

The finger tab also comes with a wrench that you can use to make all the adjustments with ease.

I have used the Shibuya Apex tab in the rain and the cordovan leather felt smooth even after it has dried.

Comfort

The Shibuya Apex Finger Tab is one of the most comfortable finger tabs I have ever used.

The finger spacer has a removable silicon rubber cover that feels soft and gentle on your fingers. The finger band is also comfortable and does not dig into your skin or cause any irritation.

The anchor pad is smooth and flat and does not interfere with your thumb placement or pressure.

The only thing I don’t like about the Shibuya Apex Finger Tab is that I experienced some pinching and blistering on my skin between the finger spacer and the tab.

This happened when I first used the finger tab and I think it was because I had not adjusted my finger hook properly.

After I changed my hooking technique and moved the finger spacer forward, the problem was solved and I did not have any more issues.

Value for Money

The major retailers sell The Shibuya Apex Finger Tab for $69.99 at the time of this writing. I think is an excellent value for money considering its features, quality, and performance.

It is comparable to other high-end finger tabs on the market but offers more customization options and innovation. It is also suitable for both amateur and experienced archers, which makes it more versatile and adaptable.

Shibuya Apex Finger Tab Review: Final Thoughts

The Shibuya Apex Tab is a great choice for intermediate archers who want to improve their shooting skills and comfort.

It has a sleek and ergonomic design that allows for comfortable and consistent hooking, an internally mounted anchor pad that creates a stable and flat surface for your thumb, a tilt-lock finger spacer that prevents tilting and aligns your fingers with the string, and a soft cordovan face that provides a smooth release without compromising your feel of the string.

It also has a high build quality, durability, and ease of adjustment.

The finger tab causes some blistering on the skin if not worn correctly. This is the only drawback for me. However, it is easy to fix by adjusting the finger spacer or by changing the finger hook for a little bit.

If you are looking for a new finger tab that will help you take your archery to the next level, I highly recommend the Shibuya Apex Finger Tab.
