Ramrods Ultra V3 Stabilizer First Impressions Review

The Ramrods Ultra V3 Stabilizers have earned a stellar reputation among archers for their exceptional performance and innovative design. Luckily, I was given the chance to test out this set of stabilizers for my first impressions review.

I’ll dive into the design, performance, and overall value for money that these stabilizers bring. But before I get started, thanks to The Archer’s Crest Singapore for the review unit.

Here is my Ramrods Ultra V3 setup. There is a tungsten-powder damping version available as well.

  • 27 inches long rod
  • 12 inches side rods
  • 4 inches carbon extension
  • Ramrods Edge Fixed V Bar

Let’s dive in.

Ramrods Ultra V3 stabilizer first impressions

Design

The Ramrods Ultra V3 stabilizers have a sleek design with a shiny carbon fiber finish. The red accents add a nice touch to its already great style. I am not sure what the binary numbers mean but it is a nice addition since it accentuates the otherwise plain design.

One of the standout features of the Ultra V3 Stabilizers is the VIBRO-CORE Internal Damping, which effectively eliminates unwanted vibrations from your shot. Crafted with precision, these stabilizers boast a spine rating of 137 and a diameter of 0.5 inches. The use of 7075 Aluminum for both proximal and distal endcaps ensures durability, while the flat slots in the proximal endcap allow for easy tightening with common tools.

These stabilizers are proudly made in the USA and designed and hand-built by the owners themselves.

What I love about these stabilizers is their thinness at around 12.7mm outside diameter. It is way thinner than the regular cheap stabilizers that is common nowadays.

Ramrods Ultra V3 Stabilizers Performance

The Ramrods Ultra V3 Stabilizers excel in delivering stability and a smooth shooting experience. I had a noticeable improvement in shot stability, especially during and after the shot from my first end alone.

Overall, the balance of my bow is top-notch and I was in for a treat while shooting with it. It felt like my sight pin was just floating on the gold with no noticeable shake. The jump after the release was quick and it felt good. The feedback between a good and a bad shot is noticeable as well.

The VIBRO-CORE Internal Damping system lives up to its promise. It provided me with a crisp and clean feel upon release. The sound is snappy too after my release.

These stabilizers offer unmatched wind efficiency, ensuring that archers can maintain their stance and draw even in unfavorable conditions. I was not able to test it out in heavy winds. However, I can safely say that it can reduce swaying since the stabilizers are well-balanced despite lacking the side weights.

I know that stabilizers are all about personal preference but, what I can say is that the Ramrods Ultra V3 is an excellent choice right out of the box. As it should be, given its price point.

Value

Now, here comes the fun part – the price. Here is the breakdown of the equipment I tested.

  • Ramrods Ultra V3 Stabilizer 27″ – $270
  • Ramrods Ultra V3 Side Rods 12″ – $134 (x2)
  • Ramrods Edge V-Bar – $46
  • Ramrods Carbon Extension – $75

The price is steep for an average archer but, worth it for professionals or die-hard competitors. Given that I am from the Philippines $660 + tax is roughly 38,000php which is already the price of a full intermediate setup here.

While the Ramrods Ultra V3 Stabilizers are undoubtedly an investment, the value they bring to your archery game depends on your usage. The combination of stability, smoothness, and wind performance they provide is a game-changer.

Do you want to compete for a spot on the national team? Do you want to be a professional athlete? Are you willing to spend that much on a stabilizer setup? Is the 10-point increase in your average scores worth the $600 price tag?

These are the questions that you need to ask yourself because, in the end, it is your money on the line.

Ramrods Ultra V3 Stabilizer: Final Thoughts

The Ramrods Ultra V3 Stabilizers have rightfully earned their reputation as top-tier archery stabilizers. Their innovative design, featuring the VIBRO-CORE Internal Damping, ensures a smooth and stable shooting experience, even in adverse weather conditions.

While they represent a financial commitment, the performance and versatility they offer make them a valuable addition to any archer’s equipment. If you’re looking to up your archery game and maintain precision in any situation, the Ramrods Ultra V3 Stabilizers are a choice you won’t regret.

However, if you are struggling to hit the gold constantly with your current setup, then a new stabilizer is not the answer. I’d rather you spend that $600 on a coach. Remember, top-notch equipment will not solve your form problems but having an excellent coach will.
