Geologic Club 900 Recurve Bow Review

The Geologic Club 900 Recurve Riser is a 25-inch ILF Olympic Recurve Riser designed to cater to the needs of beginner and intermediate archers. With its ILF-compatible limb pocket system and availability in both right and left-handed options, this riser offers versatility and functionality for archers looking to improve their skills.

It’s been a while since I received this bow and there are not a lot of reviews online. So I just thought I might as well share my full review of the Geologic Club 900 recurve bow to help archers out there.

I will explore the features, performance, and overall value of the Geologic Club 900 Recurve Riser in this review.

Design and Specifications

The Geologic Club 900 Recurve bow boasts a sleek and stylish design, finished in an attractive blue color. The 25-inch size provides a comfortable grip and ample stability, contributing to consistent shooting performance.

The riser’s screw bolt limb pockets enable easy assembly and compatibility with ILF limbs, allowing archers to customize their bow according to their preferred to draw weight and length.

There are several cut-outs in the riser to prevent wind drag. You do not have to worry about accessories such as clickers, sight, and plunger buttons since there are screw holes for them.

If you are a seasoned archer then the design looks familiar. It’s like something pulled from a Korean brand. That is because it is.

The Geologic Club 900 recurve bow is similar to the KAP Winstorm 2 ILF Olympic riser. It only has a Geologic Club 900 brand on it and that’s it. Just search for it online and you will see the similarities.

Performance and Features

The performance of the Geologic Club 900 Recurve Riser is commendable for its intended audience. The 68-inch length and 28-pound draw weight make it an ideal choice for beginners and intermediate archers seeking a balance between power and maneuverability. The riser’s sturdy construction contributes to enhanced accuracy and stability during shooting sessions.

The ILF-compatible limb pocket system is a notable feature of this riser, as it allows archers to easily interchange limbs of different draw weights and lengths. This versatility enables archers to adapt their equipment as their skills progress, without the need to purchase an entirely new bow. This cost-effective approach is particularly appealing to those on a budget.

So how does it perform?

Well, it works exactly like an entry-level ILF bow. It shoots well and the feedback is great. The limbs feel snappy but, not overboard. It is similar to the WNS Explore limbs except that it has a blue and white Geologic branding.

Geologic mentions on the product page that this bow is capable of shooting up to 70 meters. Capable? Yes. Is it worth using at that distance? Definitely not. The 28 lbs draw weight is too weak to cut through the wind efficiently.

That said, this bow performs well indoors and short distances — 30 meters at most.

Pros

  • Versatile ILF compatible limb pocket system allows for customization and progression.
  • Sturdy construction enhances accuracy and stability during shooting.
  • Attractive blue color and sleek design provide aesthetic appeal.
  • Available in both right and left-handed options, catering to archers’ individual preferences.
  • Affordable price point makes it an attractive option for beginner and intermediate archers.

Cons

  • Limited color options may not suit everyone’s preferences.
  • Lack of advanced features and adjustments may be less appealing to experienced archers seeking higher performance.

User Experience and Reliability

During my testing, the Geologic Club 900 Recurve Riser provided a satisfying shooting experience. The stable construction allowed for consistent and accurate shots. The riser proved to be reliable, maintaining its performance and integrity even after extended use.

One problem I encountered is the default grip. It’s too thin for my taste and it affects my shop. That is the reason why I used epoxy putty to mold the grip into something more comfortable. I also added badminton grip tape to cover the epoxy and make it more grippy.

Price and Value

Considering its features, performance, and affordability, the Geologic Club 900 Recurve bow offers excellent value for beginner and intermediate archers. Its versatility, durability, and ease of use make it a worthy investment for those looking to progress in archery without breaking the bank.

Are there better options at this price point?

For around £169.99, there are not that many options. You may go for the Krossen Xenia Riser and limbs or get a WNS Axiom set. There are also Chinese brands such as Topoint or Sanlida that offer budget recurve bows.

However, the advantage you get from the Geologic Club 900 recurve bow is Decathlon’s two year warranty. Moreover, the bow (since it’s from KAP) is made at the same standards as the WNS Axiom or the Sebastien Flute (SF) Axiom Alpha.

Geologic Club 900 Recurve Bow Review: Final Thoughts

The Geologic Club 900 Recurve Riser is an appealing choice for beginner and intermediate archers seeking a reliable and versatile bow component. With its ILF-compatible limb pocket system, sturdy construction, and affordable price, it offers great value for money.

While it may lack advanced features for experienced archers, it fulfills its purpose admirably and assists archers in developing their skills. If you’re in search of a dependable recurve riser that will grow with you as you progress, the Geologic Club 900 Recurve Riser is a solid option.
