Geologic Club 700 Armguard Review

The Geologic Club 700 armguard is not your typical competition armguard that you will often see on archery ranges. It looks a little bit different and unusual to use here in the Philippines.

If you are interested in a different type of arm guard then you are in luck. Here is my Geologic Club 700 armguard review.

But before we get started, let’s talk a little bit about Geologic. This brand is the in-house archery brand of Decathlon.

Unfortunately for Filipinos though, this particular arm guard is not carried in the country anymore. However, if you are from the United Kingdom or anywhere else and your Decathlon has this in stock, then read on so you can make an informed decision if it is the right arm guard for you or not.

Geologic Club 700 Armguard Design

Let’s kick off my Geologic Club 700 armguard review with its design.

It is not common to see archers in the Philippines use bracer-type armguards when shooting recurve bows. The common armguard here looks like a small plastic with straps that wrap around the arm.

So how is the Club 700 armguard’s design?

I like the bracer’s design with a simple red and black colorway. The red is the main color with black accents. The armguard also has a large 700 printed on it. It looks tacky since you are like putting a price tag on yourself. It would have been better if it has a smaller branding.

The black part features soft neoprene padding. It serves as the arm protection and it works great that way. There is a small Geologic branding at the moment and it is not that bothersome.

Other than the red and black colorway, there is not much to choose from. What you see is what you get.

Comfort

I’ll get straight to the point. The Geologic Club 700 arm guard is uncomfortable to use.

It is hot and humid here in the Philippines. A full bracer wrapping around my arms lead to discomfort after an hour of shooting. It is not a problem if the weather is a little colder but, the summer heat makes it unbearable to use.

Moreover, the Club 700 arm guard has limited size options. I had to squeeze in my arms in order to fit it comfortably.

All in all, the experience is unpleasant. However, you might find it okay to use if you have a cool climate.

To be fair, Geologic might have designed this armguard with cold weather in mind and not for people from tropical countries.

The Experience

The Club 700 armguard provides ample protection from string slaps. I had a few slaps when I was tuning my bow and I didn’t get any bruises.

Protection-wise, it does a great job. It protects the whole arm which is great for beginner archers.

How is it different from my other arm guards?

I still prefer the plastic ones due to comfortability. I can shoot for three hours straight with a regular armguard and not feel any discomfort. But with the Club 700 armguard, one hour tops and I am done with it.

Final Thoughts

The Geologic Club 700 armguard is a decent armguard for beginners. It provides full coverage and protects well against string slaps. However, the limited colors and iffy sizing make it hard to recommend. It is also uncomfortable to use for long hours.

Should you get one?

Probably not. You are better off with Cartel or even a Beiter armguard.
