Bicaster Hover Arrow Rest Review

When it comes to archery accessories, Bicaster has become synonymous with crafting value-for-money products. It caters to both novices and seasoned archers alike. The Bicaster Hover Arrow Rest is just one of these products. This affordable arrow rest blends design and functionality in an enticing package.

Now, I’ll share my honest thoughts in this Bicaster Hover arrow rest review. I’ll be talking about its design, durability, and performance. Lastly, I’ll discuss why you should or should not use this arrow rest.

Let’s get started.

Design

The Bicaster Hover Rest takes its design cues from the Spigarelli Zero Tolerance arrow rest. It is pretty obvious at first sight.

Crafted from 7075 aluminum alloy, the Bicaster Hover boasts a minimalist yet sleek design, sporting a black finish that adds an elegant touch to any bow setup. With dimensions of 71.5×18.6mm, its compact size facilitates easy installation without overshadowing the overall aesthetics of the bow. Available for both right and left-handed orientations, its design caters to a wider audience.

It would have been nice to see more color options to match one’s bow aesthetics but the black is a safe option.

Durability

The choice of 7075 aluminum alloy for construction plays a pivotal role in the Bicaster Hover’s durability. This material strikes a balance between lightweight properties and robustness, ensuring the arrow rest can withstand the several hours of archery practice.

The alloy’s resilience to wear and tear implies that archers can anticipate prolonged usage before any signs of deterioration become evident.

To be honest, I only tried this rest as a substitute for my broken Shibuya Ultima Recurve Rest. I have no plans of using it long-term. It will be a temporary alternative while I wait for a different arrow rest and the Shibuya Ultima spare parts.

This means I cannot comment on its long-term durability yet. However, I have several colleagues who’ve been using this arrow rest for several months now and they have no complaints. Some even prefer it over the Shibuya Ultima.

  • Bicaster Hover Arrow Rest thick wire
  • It comes with a washer and a bolt
  • Better installed on risers with two plunger holes
  • Installed with a plunger button
  • Paint chips on the riser
  • The wire hook may affect the arrow flight
  • Despite adjusting, the arrow do not sit in the center of the plugner
  • Simple Bicaster logo at the back

Bicaster Hover Arrow Rest Performance

A key highlight of the Bicaster Hover is its smooth magnetic rebound system, which significantly enhances shooting accuracy. The magnetic mechanism securely holds the arrow until release, minimizing the risk of misalignment during the draw.

Furthermore, the rest’s adjustability options, both vertically and horizontally, provide archers with ample room for customization. This adaptability contributes to better precision and comfort during shooting.

I used this arrow rest for a tournament and the result is acceptable. It does feel like it is too thick for Olympic recurve and I am worried that it might affect my arrow flight.

While, it is definitely not better than the Shibuya Ultima, I will not say that it is bad. It is more than capable of helping you shoot consistently. However, if you are aiming for the top, then it is better to use a different arrow rest since sooner or later the thick wires will bother you, as it did to me.

What I like

The affordability of the Bicaster Hover Arrow Rest immediately catches the eye, making it an appealing option for beginners or those on a budget. Its easy-to-use nature ensures that archers won’t feel encumbered during practice sessions, and the straightforward installation process suits those new to archery accessories. The comprehensive adjustability options enable archers to fine-tune their setup according to their individual shooting style.

What I don’t like

While the Bicaster Hover has its merits, it does fall short in a few areas. The wire thickness, though suitable for many archery styles, poses a drawback for Olympic Recurve archery, potentially affecting the center shot, arrow flight, and overall shooting experience.

I also had the wire hit my bow riser and it chipped my risers finish. Additionally, despite its adjustability, I find it difficult to set up so my arrows are in the center of the cushion plunger. Perhaps my arrows are too thin? Ultimately, it should not be an issue if you are using thicker arrows.

Bicaster Hover Arrow Rest: Final Thoughts

The Bicaster Hover Arrow Rest presents itself as an accessible and durable option, ideal for archery enthusiasts entering the field. Its design balances elegance and functionality, and its durability ensures a longer lifespan. The smooth magnetic rebound system and customizable adjustability further contribute to improved shooting accuracy.

However, the rest’s limitations in wire thickness for certain archery styles, paint chipping concerns, and alignment issues indicate areas for potential enhancement. In the end, the Bicaster Hover Arrow Rest offers a promising foundation but leaves room for refinements to cater to a broader spectrum of archers’ needs and preferences.

So should you get it?

If you are shooting Olympic recurve and want to compete at the top-most level, then go ahead and purchase the Shibuya Ultima recurve rest. There are some drawbacks to the Ultima recurve rest but it is by far one of the best in performance. On a budget? Get the Hoyt Super Rest.

Barebow shooters would benefit from using this arrow rest since the three under draw would lead the arrow down the rest until it shoots out of the bow. So if you shoot barebow, you are in luck as this arrow rest is one of the best value-for-money out there.
